A friendly working organic dairy farm, within easy
reach of Dartmoor National Park and the surrounding Devon countryside
providing both Bed and Breakfast and self-catering accommodation
Hele Farm is a fully organic dairy farm which dates
from 1780. The Grade II Listed farmhouse retains many features of bygone
years, stone floors, polished wood, bread ovens and artefacts of farming
history.
Hele provides bed and breakfast in two pretty en-suite
rooms which are colour co-ordinated and have TV and tea making
facilities. The family room has a double and a single bed, the other
room has a double bed.
You mainly organic and locally resourced breakfast
will set you up well for a happy day visiting the many places of
interest nearby. Evening meals can be found to suit every pocket, from
the famous Horn of Plenty Restaurant to local pubs, which are within a
short distance by car.
Hele Farm also has two well equipped one bedroom self
catering units. Self catering can be any length of stay and is charged
on a daily, all inclusive basis.
Hele is an excellent touring base and central for
activity centres providing fishing, riding, cycling, canoeing and not
forgetting Dartmoor letterboxing. Visitors are welcome to bring their well behaved small
dogs with them.
There is about an hour long walk from the farm which
takes in woodland and farmland. Dogs are welcome on this walk but must
be kept on a lead at all times.
The milk produced by our organic dairy herd is taken
every day by tanker to Organic Milk Suppliers Co-operative Ltd (OMSCO)
where it is pasteurised and made into breakfast milk, Yeo Valley yoghurt
and organic chesses. The milk and yoghurt are served on the Hele Farm
breakfast table to our guests. Our eggs are produced by our own free
range hens.
